1.8 Kinko Ji-ari shakuhachi in D signed 金州 “KINSHU” (3 Hanko) – restored by Chikudo

I don’t have information on that maker 金州 KINSHU Takeji (not Iba Kinshu) but have already seen his hanko. This instrument actually has 3 hanko (for some makers, a sign for a good shakuhachi); it is indeed a great instrument.
I repaired a surface crack on the upper part with 3 bindings and work on Nakatsugi joint with urushi; also some chips in the bore were filled with ji and bore is completed with new layer of urushi coating.
This Ji-ari shakuhachi is particularly powerful and dynamic; it offers a great range of tone colours and answers perfectly to everything asked very smoothly !
Definitely a great concert shakuhachi that I’m pretty sure a professional player would appreciate; I think this instrument is very well suited for KSK style and contemporary music.
