1.8 Tozan ji-ari shakuhachi “SEIKADO” in D – “Seikado” – Restored by Chikudo

Here is a shakuhachi made in the famous SEIKADO workshop in Kyoto (4 generations of makers); it seems rather old but I can’t really say from what period it is; probably over 50 years old).
This ji-ari is perfectly balanced and very flexible; it has a clear tone colour without being too bright. It can play from fine soft to powerfull loud.
It is an advanced level ji-ari.

A crack in the upper part which has already been bound had re-open; I sealed it with fine glue infiltration; as the bore was also damaged by that crack, I had to repair it with ji and new layers of lacquer and it is now shinny and new ! New lacquer has also been added to the joint for a perfect fit.
